Synthomer, a leading speciality chemicals company, announces the acquisition of HEXION Performance Adhesives & Coatings (‘HEXION PAC’), a business of HEXION Inc. The total consideration is $226 million (£156 million). The acquisition is expected to complete during the summer 2016 following receipt of regulatory approvals and satisfaction of other closing conditions.

Kraton Polymers LLC completed the purchase of all of the outstanding shares of capital stock of Arizona Chemical Holdings Corporation, the largest global provider of pine-based specialty chemicals. The $1.37 billion in cash purchase was funded with committed debt facilities. Kraton expects pretax synergies of about $65 million in 2018.

Axalta Coating Systems, a leading global supplier of paints and coatings, has acquiered United Paint’s automotive interior rigid thermoplastics coatings business. Production will for the time being remain at United Paint’s Southfield Michigan facilities but will be moved to Axalta’s facilities eventually. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Westlake Chemical Corporation announced on August 31, 2016 that it has acquired Axiall Corporation for $33.00 per share in an all-cash transaction which equals about $3.8 billion, including debt and certain other Axiall liabilities. The acquisition will make Westlake the third-largest chlor-alkali producer and the second-largest polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer in North America, with expected combined revenues of about $7.5 billion. The merger is expected to create a company with greater financial and operational flexibility that generates additional value and growth for Westlake stockholders.
